A collaboration between Matthew Brannon and author of American Psycho, Bret Easton Ellis. Produced as as a companion catalog to the exhibition Matthew Brannon: Midlife Crisis Intermission, this artist’s book pairs letterpress excerpts from Ellis’ seminal texts, Less Than Zero and Lunar Park, with Brannon’s witty, full-color prints of 1980’s tokens of disaffected youth. The resultant combination creates an irresolvable tension between reality and fiction, leisure and anesthesia. Exploring the relationship between Ellis’ art and his own, Brannon notes, “my work is often about drowning one’s own feelings...it looks innocent, but it’s really very sinister.”
