This monoprint by artist Sarah Crowner marks the introduction of EXILE’s publishing program: EXILE Editions. For EXILE Editions, Crowner created a monoprint with lithography ink applied directly onto the offset poster to celebrate her first Miami exhibition, “Sunday in the Park,” launching at Locust Projects in collaboration with EXILE Books and Sari Carel on September 13th at 7:00 pm. For this monoprint Crowner worked with graphic designer Gusto Mendoza to devise the poster in the style of a 1960’s, theatrical playbill. The monoprint’s graphic imagery is taken from a little known periodical called Art Enfantin, a huge source of inspiration for “Sunday in the Park.” This mid-century French journal with contributions by Jean Dubuffet and Jean Cocteau explores the "radiant song of childhood, fearless freedom...joie de vivre, and spontaneity that comes from the multitude of children at a time when the genius of man raises much concern."
