Tsunami, Photographs, and Then: The Lost and Found Project is the first book of young Japanese photographer Munemasa Takahashi, although the photos featured in it aren’t his. Instead, the book showcases thousands of images lost by victims of the 2011 Tsunami that wrought havoc on the Tohoku coast of Japan in 2011. Over the course of the last three years, Takahashi has worked alongside the Lost & Found Project, a group that hopes to return household objects to those affected by the Tsunami, to clean and digitize hundreds of thousands of images salvaged from the area. The images featured in this book are those damaged beyond recognition that could not be returned to their owners. In Japanese and English.
