A zine based on the film "Two Lakes" by Amelia Bande, Deborah Bower, Mat Fleming and Annette Knol, scripted by Amelia Bande. Two Lakes, a handmade camera-less film, was collectively created from piles of luscious, colour gels, cut, stuck and manipulated into a 16mm film. This tapestry of hues accompanied by a voice-over narrative tells the story of a teenager who moves to “The City” – which remains nameless to evoke mythologies of the metropolis. In between low-pay jobs, lesbian parties, and junk food, she makes new friends and falls in love. The outcome is a fast-pace explosion of shapes and colours that shine and blink, creating a parallel universe to the experience of a young woman wandering through a new life, effectively challenging perception through medium and narrative.
