Speculating on the Blue by Flaka Haliti

Appointed for the 56th Venice Biennale, Flaka Haliti created the site-specific installation Speculating on the Blue (2015), reflecting on the meaning of borders, freedom and mobility. With Haliti’s intallation, the skeletons of barricade-like obstructions are made to closely resemble the blue-painted barriers in front of the Kosovo UN, evoking the observer to deconstruct the concept of borders and to raise new perspectives of her conceptual framework. In addition to Haliti’s work is a conversation with Markus Miessen and an essay by curator Vanessa Joan Müller.
