From the Bottom of a Wall by Shawn Records

Shawn Records' captivating photographs recount his involvement in a Chinese government-sponsored trip for a select group of American fine art photographers. Both humorous and serious, Records articulates the tension between his role as a documentary photographer and his impulse to subvert it. The artist invites the viewers to consider the Chinese proverb zuijing guantian, “Like looking at the sky from the bottom of a well.”
