Source by Christy Gast

With her book Source, Miami-born sculptor and video artist, Christy Gast, compiled a collection of photographs focusing on objects and assemblages that are distinctly sculptural. Captured like snapshots from a cross-country road trip, these “found sculptures” alternate between creations of the natural world (rays of sun through a spider web) and man-made (a tablescape of food preparation). Encapsulated in one hundred pages of crisp color, full of rich texture and a bit of kitsch Americana, Gast’s often unexpected juxtaposition of imagery sheds light on man’s ever-changing relationship to nature. What results is a visually stunning dialogue between the two.
