Songbook by Alec Soth

Songbook explores the surreal scenes of community life in the country, which Soth captured across the American South as he travelled on assignment as a newspaper reporter. He attended hundreds of meetings, dances, festivals and communal gatherings in search of human interaction in an era of virtual social networks; by replacing their news context with lyrical passages from The Great American Songbook, Soth highlights the inherent longing for connection at their root.
