The Possibilities of the Artist’s Book with Max Schumann

The Possibilities of the Artist’s Book with Max Schumann, Executive Director of Printed Matter, Inc. EXILE will provide an introduction to artist's books through a series of weekly talks at Books & Books moderated by Amanda Keeley, a former manager of Printed Matter, Inc. and curatorial assistant to Yoko Ono.

Join us for the series launch on October 15th at 8 pm with Max Schumann, Executive Director of Printed Matter, Inc.

The mainstream publishing industry remains in an extended period of crisis. Luminaries proclaim the death of the book in the digital age. In spite of this, artists’ publishing is experiencing a significant resurgence in activity and public interest. Schumann will examine this renaissance in relation to the history of contemporary artists' books, as well as the context of the digital information revolution with its socio-political implications.

Schumann’s talk will be available via LIVESTREAM. You can catch his historical introduction to the contemporary artist's book, as well as to Printed Matter, Inc. the world's largest non-profit institution devoted to artists' books here. Viewers will also be able to join the conversation via LIVESTREAM during the Q&A.
