EXILE Books is proud to extend an exhibition featuring EXILE founder Amanda Keeley and Katelyn Kopenhaver. This exhibit is a small survey of each artist's text based works, with a focus on texture and feminist outlooks. This exhibit was initially conceived as a dual studio space featured in the Fountainhead Artists Open, held on May 21, 2022.
Katelyn Kopenhaver is an interdisciplinary artist and writer. Born in 1992 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania; Kopenhaver received her BFA in photography from the School of Visual Arts in 2016 and currently resides in Miami, Florida. Kopenhaver's conceptual works and performances investigate and expose atrocities that society has been conditioned to accept or has come to ignore. She attempts to bring the viewer into those untold, quieted narratives and the lives they represent while simultaneously forcing the viewer to question their role as witness. Kopenhaver was awarded the 2021 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship in Interdisciplinary Work.
Amanda Season Keeley is a visual artist and curator based in Miami. She is the founder of EXILE Books, an experimental book store and hub for site-specific performances, lectures, fairs, and workshops designed to advance circulation and engagement with artist’s publications. Her practice utilizes the language of printmaking, sculpture, and text-based works which often take the shape of community collaborations and multimedia interactive installations. She recently designed a suite of typography that is embedded into different surfaces to immerse the viewer with subliminal messages of empowerment.
